The Peter H. & Dana Gunn Winslow Foundation was pleased to attend EducareDC’s 10th annual Learning Event, where we were inspired by the organization’s progress and steady achievements, particularly around their Early Educator Fellowship program.
C. Darius Gordon, PhD, Educare DC’s Development Manager, shared: “We are grateful for the investment of the foundation in our Early Educator Fellowship and are proud of all we have accomplished through the Fellowship with your support.”

Launched in 2020, the Early Educator Fellowship provides professional development and community-building for early childhood educators in Washington, DC—predominantly Black women teaching in the city’s highest-poverty communities of Wards 7 and 8. Through monthly sessions with nationally recognized leaders, fellows build skills in leadership, advocacy, communication, and wellness. An independent evaluation found remarkable results: 100% of fellows improved in conflict resolution, knowledge of ECE policy grew from 25% to 85%, and no fellows reported high burnout at program completion. With 111 alumni and growing, the Fellowship is elevating the profession and strengthening the educators who serve our youngest learners. The Foundation is proud to support this vital work through its annual grant.
