Dana and Peter Winslow
The Winslows are long-time residents of D.C. and Maryland, and co-founders of the foundation. Peter is a tax attorney who has served as legal advisor to numerous tax-exempt organizations for over 40 years. Dana is an artist having won multiple awards for her watercolors. The Winslows have supported educational opportunities of many young aspiring students and seek to continue that support through this family foundation.
Anita and Larry Shirley
Anita and Larry Shirley have been engaged in philanthropy in various capacities throughout their long careers. Both have worked for private grant-making foundations and hold graduate degrees in philanthropy and development. Anita works at Duke University as Director of Foundation Relations for Duke Health and is the author of many extensive directories of foundations and corporate giving in North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. Larry provides consulting services for nonprofit energy organizations and philanthropies. He most recently served for six years as Chairman of the Interstate Renewable Energy Council, a national renewable energy nonprofit.
Michele and Christopher Stephenson
Chris is a technology entrepreneur, with over three decades of experience founding, advising and investing in startup businesses. Michele is a health care professional, with a focus on dementia care management for the aging population. The Stephenson’s volunteer work and charitable endeavors over the past thirty years have emphasized education in underserved communities as well supporting victims of domestic abuse.
LaTonya Hinton
LaTonya Hinton has been a Maryland resident for 21 years working at a DC Law Firm as a Professional Administrator. She is a proud mother of three children, whom she raised to be productive citizens, put through college, and been present in all of their endeavors and accomplishments, while balancing a successful career. She is also a grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren to whom she is devoted and involved in their upbringing, growth and development. “I have a love for all children and anything involved in their advancement,” said Hinton. “For many years I have been a safe place for many of my children’s friends. I am passionate about helping children get a strong start in life, which in turn helps their families and entire community thrive. When children and people who care about them work together, anything is possible.”
Kenan Mullis
Kenan is a tax attorney who has regularly advised tax-exempt organizations. He has worked alongside Peter Winslow (fellow team member) since 2015 and is co-author with Peter on a legal treatise dealing with tax issues of exempt organizations. Although Kenan has moved to Maine, he was resident of D.C. for 14 years where he volunteered and assisted low-income residents as a member of the Janet R. Spragens Federal Tax Clinic and the D.C. Earned Income Tax Credit Campaign. Kenan is excited to join the Gunn Winslow Foundation team where he can continue working for the benefits of the DC community.
