The Story of the Logo (as told by Dana Winslow)

our logo

I was excited about the introduction of The Peter H. & Dana Gunn Winslow Foundation and volunteered to create a logo—a “Logo to Inspire”.

The logo idea bounced into my head in color and in concept.  I began by drawing a free-hand circle, symbolizing love, inclusion and an embrace.  I added-semi-crooked steps leading to a star.  It is our hope that the children we help through our foundation will be inspired to take their own steps to success and be our shining stars.  My husband, Peter, loved the logo idea, my design and message and encouraged me to continue.  My next step was to make a small watercolor using a miniature circle template with blue for sky and water, and green for fields and forests.  I created many versions with multiple revisions, finally settling on four possibilities.  These were sent to the website designer who happened to pick out my personal favorite.  As I hoped it would, the website perfectly captures and reflects the thinking that when into my “Logo to Inspire”.

I thank everyone on our Leadership Team for allowing me to make this contribution to the foundation.
