Now in its fourth year, the Early Educator Fellowship, a project of Educare DC, has established itself as a cornerstone for professionals in the early childhood community of DC. With nearly 45 dedicated Fellows already making waves, this fellowship program is not just a learning opportunity but a catalyst for transformation.
Fellows come together for 8 days of professional learning throughout the school year. Each session includes relationship-building within the cohort and offers opportunities for Fellows to learn and practice skills to support their self-care, communicate more effectively in the workplace, and become more reflective about their professional practice. Most sessions include guest speakers from DC’s early childhood ecosystem.
At the heart of the Early Educator Fellowship lies a commitment to celebrating the achievements of its Fellows and alumni. In our current cohort, we are proud to report that Mr. Austin Lee was awarded the DCAEYC Scholarship to participate in the national conference. Beyond the current cohort, the ongoing success of alumni serves as inspiration for future Fellows. Mr. Casi York has served as a guest speaker at Oxfam events on Care and Workers. In 2023, Ms. Angelique Marshall was selected for the DC Action- DCAEYC Early Educator of the Year Award, a noteworthy accomplishment. Most recently, Ms. Alethea Etinoff was elected as an At-Large Board Member of DCAEYC. These accomplishments underscore the enduring impact of the program on supporting members and uplifting the profession.
