Grant Application for Under-resourced Children
Applications for grants will be accepted only by submissions made by email to: [email protected] following the processes described below: one for New Applicants and one for Current/Former Grantees.
Request For Application Form – New Applicants
There is a multi-step process for new grant applicants. The first step is to submit a Letter of Intent to enter your organization into the grant application process, no later than August 15. Step two is to submit a formal application no later than October 1. This should be sent via the application contact form on our “Application page.” The form will request, among other things, the following information:
- Name, address, ward number (if applicable), website, and telephone number of the applying organization and the name of the person the Foundation should contact concerning the application;
- An opening summary paragraph that describes the proposed project, the amount being requested, and the period of time covered by the grant;
- A statement of need for the project;
- A description of the proposed project activities and desired outcomes, including the geographic area that will be served and the constituencies that will benefit from the project;
- The experience and credentials of the organization that make it the best organization to undertake the proposed project, including its tax-exempt status;
- How the funds will be used and for what purposes;
- A copy of its ruling letter from the Internal Revenue Service stating that it is not a private foundation under paragraphs (1) or (2) of section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code;
- Current year operating budget;
- A program or project budget, and;
- A list of all its directors, officers, and key employees.
The Foundation’s leadership team will review the application form and potentially request additional information and/or schedule a site visit.
After the Foundation has received a complete proposal with all the required information, the grant request will be submitted to the Foundation’s Board of Directors for consideration. Each new applicant will be notified of the Board’s decision.
Request For Application Form – Current/Former Grantees
Current or former grantees of the Foundation seeking continued funding do not need to submit an application form. Instead, they should submit a proposal to the Foundation by October 1st for the following grant year. The proposal should be accompanied by the following attachments:
1. Project Budget
2. Organizational Budget
3. Board of Directors with brief bios
4. Senior and Project Staff with brief bios
5. Annual Report
6. Current Strategic Plan (if it exists)
7. Progress Report for Current Grant
8. Contact information for person(s) to answer questions about the application, site visits, progress reports and post-award grant correspondence.
As a condition of a Foundation grant, grantees should allow representatives of the Foundation’s Leadership Team to make a site visit during regular business hours at a mutually convenient time as part of the proposal evaluation process and/or to assess whether the grant goals are being met.
