Eligibility Requirements
The Foundation makes grants to tax-exempt charitable organizations operating in the Metropolitan area of Washington, D.C. In considering grant requests, the Foundation gives priority to organizations which promote educational opportunities for under-privileged children ages 3 to 6. Because of restrictions imposed by federal income tax law, the Foundation does not make grants to supporting organizations, private foundations, or individuals.
Grant Restrictions
Grants must be used solely for charitable and similar purposes as prescribed by federal tax law. No portion of any grant may be used to carry on any lobbying activity or other attempt to influence legislation, to conduct any attempt to influence the outcome of a specific public election, or to carry on any voter registration drive. The amount of any grant funds expended by the recipient for an impermissible purpose must be repaid to the Foundation.
